We Are Whispering Willows

We are a small, private Rescue & Sanctuary based in Pontardawe, and in Gowerton, South Wales.

We take in horses, ponies, sheep, dogs, cats and other animals who have few other prospects. Whether they are abused, neglected, elderly, disabled or their owner's just want to ensure their beloved pet goes to a safe, secure home when they can no longer keep them- we will always try to help personally or provide sign-posting to other services where appropriate.

We offer some of our horses and ponies for Long-Term Loan following a Home Vetting procedure and reference checks. 

Dogs, cats and other small animals are re-homed following the same procedures as above, and with a contract in place.

History

Our project is the brain child of Sandra Stolp, who has been rescuing, rehabilitating and where appropriate, loaning/re-homing animals for years. 

Now, with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers, Whispering Willows is helping even more animals in need than ever before! 

Our yards are based on two properties, roughly 15 miles apart. 

Our Pontardawe premises consists of 17 acres (with an additional 5 acres up the road), indoor stables and an outdoor stable block. Our retirement, palliative and ill or injured horses tend to be based here. 

In Gowerton, we have further stables and 26 acres, with an outdoor school. This is also where our Office is located, and where most people will come to meet horses and ponies available for loan. 

Who We Help

Some of our animals come to us because their owners can no longer care for them, or have struggled to find appropriate homes. Others have been abandoned, neglected or abused and some are simply feral.
Because we understand how quickly life can change for both animals and people, we will always maintain a high level of respect and consideration for any situation that leads to an animal being surrendered to us, and adhere to our policy of strict privacy.
